Resource page request email template
Asking to be added to a curated list of links.
A resource page request should say which page, which section, and what makes your entry different from the ones already listed. Curators maintain these pages deliberately, so an addition has to earn its slot rather than simply exist.
At a glance
| Use it when | The page is a maintained list and your resource genuinely fits |
|---|---|
| Length | 80 to 120 words |
| Tone | Respectful of the curation |
| Ask for | Consideration, not inclusion |
The template
Subject lines that work with it
- Suggestion for your [topic] resources page
- Addition for [page title]?
- [Resource type] for your [topic] list
How to write this email well
- Name the section. "Under Tools, after [existing entry]" makes the edit a ten second job.
- Say what is different, not what is good. Curators already have good; they need distinct.
- Check the page has been updated in the last year. Abandoned lists never respond.
Questions
Why do most resource page emails fail?
They ask for a link without saying where it fits or why it is different from what is already there.
Should I offer something in return?
No. Offering a reciprocal link makes it a transaction and many editors will refuse on principle.
How do I find these pages?
Search for the topic alongside words like resources, tools or reading list, then check when each page was last updated.
