Frequently asked questions

Is Depot free to use?

Yes. Depot is a free Chrome extension. It runs entirely in your browser using your active session on claude.ai. There are no API keys, no subscriptions, and no accounts to create.

Does my data leave my computer?

No. Depot has no remote backend, no database, and no telemetry. All requests go directly between your browser and claude.ai.

Does Depot require an API key?

No. Depot works with your regular claude.ai web account (both Free and Pro) without Anthropic API keys or tokens.

Can I use it across multiple Claude workspaces?

Yes. You can use Depot across any workspace or organisation you are logged into in your Chrome browser.

What happens to images in projects?

Claude stores uploaded images as downscaled previews and does not support programmatic re-upload. Depot backs up image previews and reminds you to re-add raw images in Claude manually.

Can I restore a project from a backup?

Yes. Exported .zip archives contain instructions.md and context documents that can be restored into fresh Claude Projects in seconds.
